Parade With A Banner Poem by James Meaney

Parade With A Banner

I haven't been home in awhile
I'm just a kid with no ambitions
Wouldn't go home for the world
I'm the king of no intentions
Filled with ideas and thoughts
that keep my heart and mind un-relaxed
I could learn and read my life away
And still wouldn't know all the facts
people are branded with a banner
that they have paraded -
Their opinions are above all, no matter -
If they think it or have been manipulated
I just think it funny -
That I'm walking for happiness
As they run past it for money
Maybe they didn't get the memo or faxes
But it's spelled L-I-V-E, not -
B-L-I-N-D
