Papier Mâché Man Poem by Stuart Doggett

Papier Mâché Man

A painted smile,
A wooden face,
Chiselled manners,
Constructed grace,
Made in your image.

Papier mâché
Pasted together
To be whole.

Copied movements,
Mimicked sound,
Diagrammed expression,
Measured frown,
Taught in your image.

Papier mâché
Pasted together
To be whole.

How much is freedom?
As much as strings allow.
How long are the strings?
As high as the balcony.
Maintained in your image.

Papier mâché
Pasted together
To be whole.
