you wear that painted smile
upon your pretty face
you hide behind your mask
covering your disgrace

you keep your secrets hidden
deep within your mind
your shame is eating your soul
youre running out of time

you never show emotions
you cover up your fears
so you wear that painted smile
as you have all of these years

your thoughts are in the past
youre afraid to let them go
you need to move on now
leave the darkness of long ago

remove that painted smile
upon your pretty face
open up your heart
and a real smile will take its place
