Pain Is Everywhere Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Pain Is Everywhere

Pain is everywhere

I have been very active, right or wrong,
Therefore:

I have
Talked with my fingers and my toes
Listened to own voice, then echoes
Seen my swollen legs, from galosh
Watched my daughter’s feet, after
Walking in water of Riga’s ditches.

I have
Held my friend’s smashed brain in my hand
Removed pigeons’ eggs, replaced with hens’
Caught the small lizards and tortured them
Swallowed very small living fish alive, they
Made me like the others.

I have
Walked for tens of kilometers in Chaco
Collected bullets and clays to study the
Brutality of an imposed war, in which
The indigenous Andeans’ and Guarani
Were killed for the sake of nothingness

I have
Hidden the oppositions’ papers and the
Notes inside my shirt, escaping those
Brutal attacks that killed many and I
Saved my sister in law who had been,
Injured and hidden in the hospital.

I was called:
“Save her before she is removed and buried
Alive, in some mass grave.”

I have
Crossed many mountains, deserts and oceans
And the conclusion simple: “Pain is everywhere.”

This is not the end; I wish it had not had any start.
