Page Three Poem by Sandra Martyres

Page Three

Rating: 5.0

In our current
Celebrity obsessed culture
Many people establish
A symbiotic relationship
With popular dailies.
A snapshot on page three
Is also the ambition of
Many a wannabe
The skimpier the outfit
The flashier the jewelry
The greater the impact
Is the general belief
Many a cute young thing
Sporting a little black number
Would be delighted to
Feature on page three
For if she does succeed
All her dreams would be
Fulfilled
As there is nothing more
Satisfying than arriving
At a Page Three do
Hanging on to the arm of
A guy featuring in “Who’s who”

An innovative verse and the title intriguing until the verse is read - excellent content which explains a lot of present day behaviour in this throwaway society... reputations dispensed with are no exception Sandra - - well written - 10/10 Fay

As Carl Harris comments Sandra, your poem is clever and very witty. I love your play on words with your closing lines. Trouble is, when these celebrities become too well known, their life becomes suffocated as publicity increases. Your title is great too! 10 love Karin

This is a clever and very witty poem, Sandra, another of your fine works that is a pleasure to read. A lot of newspapers feature a pin-up type photo on a page and that often puts the male readers in a better frame of mind to start their day. Sadly, not all of our US papers do that anymore, what with feminism and gender equality groups threatening lawsuits. No doubt our newspapers in San Francisco show a skimply clad male rather than a nubile young woman, to please their major clientle there. In any event, this is a thoroughly enjoyable poem, both to read and imagine in one's mind! Carl.
