Over Arabia Poem by Matt Mooney

Over Arabia

The red sun has risen on the earth's rim
Over the sands of Saudi Arabia,
Climbing through the clouds
As our Etihad flight from Dublin
Draws near to Abu Dhabi,
Flying through flat white lands of fantasy,
Of fairy palaces-piled up fleecy cumuli;
And there was light, emerging, overflowing:
The day's gold and silver coffers spilling,
Filling the cabin of our aeroplane
With a champagne for breakfast feeling;
The sleeping come live down the aisles
In a sunflower show of heads,
Turning towards the eastern horizon.
