Ourselves Poem by Scotty Ceurvels

Ourselves

Why do I have to be
What others think of me?
It's not for them I have to live
Only for myself I have to forgive

Why do we have to be
What others think of we?
It's not for them we have to give
Only for ourselves do we have to live

Who made up all of these laws?
Try to forgive and then give pause
For It's only ourselves we have to love
If we can't do that, then there's no one above

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It's funny how we see ourselves through other people's perceptions and what society dictates. Just be true to yourself. You can't love others if you can't love yourself.

A great write, Scotty. We try to love ourselves and others all our lives sometimes we fail, sometimes we succeed. That is what I think. Thank you

I agree that we must love ourselves before loving another! Good read :)
