Our Proud Heritage Poem by Daniel McDonagh

Our Proud Heritage

Rating: 5.0

My name is McDonagh, at seven years old
I took to the wearing of the green, white & gold,
i follow the Celtic, the team of my choice,
like my father before me, I follow the Bhoys.

Now the Celtic were founded in the year '88
when my dear old grandad first walked through the gate,
the football the Celtic played, filled his heart with joy,
so he hurried on home to tell his darlin' boy.

Now that boy was my father and he followed the Tims,
he stood on the terracing and sung battle hymns,
he taught me the history of the Celtic supreme,
so to follow the Celtic was always my dream.

When my son grows older, he'll follow the Tims
and like his old grandad, he'll sing new battle hymns,
on the slopes of old Parkhead, he will become of age,
with the legend of Celtic, our proud heritage.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A proud piece indeed. And true; after all, who would folllow a team through choice rather than conditioning? Joke! ! ! ! Almost limerick-like, in its pace, this piece. Well-penned.
