Our Horses Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Our Horses

Our horses

Naneh means mother and
- Baba shows dad, so stands
-Naneh Baba
-"grandma" paternal
-is the core of this write.

She was kind and small
-hardworking all along
-but tired of us two
-we were named Nasrollah…
-he was our grandpa
-and also her husband's

Born after he was dead
-both of us had his name
-my cousin and myself
-carried the exact name

We raced and rode horses
-everyday in summer

Our horses shared a back
-had no legs, never ran
-therefore no galloping
-we slid on the wall
-acted as if they ran

Grandma was tired
-of having to be there
-to patch our black pants
-worn and torn at the seats

This is what we were and
-so was she; in village

Lovely was our life then
-full of fun and simple!
