Our Greed Poem by Soumita Sarkar

Our Greed

Time warns us it succeeds ages
Trees stand still it sustains phases
Rive rise, fall and flow to keep land alive
Nature is a source to fulfill life's need
Alas! universe has less to offer human greed

Cough and uneasiness signals fever
Should we waste time to meet a doctor?
When thirsty we rush to a water
If hungry we reach a cook's corner
I miss someone to write a letter
I do all that makes me feel better
My desire twists as our desire to human need
Oh! This silent earth serves us to feed
But universe has less to fulfill our greed

We impatient and power crazy breed
Never learnt to limit our need
To reach a position we destroy and exploit
We cut, we break, we kill like dacoit
We pollute, we act to dilute the purity
Of land, water, air and humanity
Oh! This silent earth serves us to feed
But universe has less to fulfill our greed

A tiny bend in our thought
Can bring bundles of change
Let only handful work differently
A new move, a trend eco-friendly
Slogan of 'Sustainable development' will emerge
As a noble path to 'No waste and conserve'
