Our Eternal Salam To The Immortal Kalam Poem by Balambal Suryanarayanan

Our Eternal Salam To The Immortal Kalam

OUR ETERNAL SALAM TO THE IMMORTAL KALAM
Into the streets
Tapped the fisherman’s feets
A boy was born
As cute as a corn
Everyone felt that he would follow his father’s footsteps
But none realised that he would make India dance to his mets
He spent his childhood joyfully
But also spent time carefully
He was a master of maths and science
And answered quickly as riping vines
His words had perfection
But never had imagination
His thoughts had significance
And always had their own importance
He was always honest
And would aim for something highest
This ordinary boy became a great scientist
And was always an optimist
He achieved many feats
Just like JOHN KEATS
Prithvi, Agni were his missiles
And he brought India back to its glories
He came to be known as missile man
And was capable of overcoming any ban
Titled with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan
Also with Bharat Ratna
As for India he was more than a son
A great professor
And also a big successor
This guy became the president of India
He achieved heights higher than the vindhiya
Our salam to Abdul Kalam
He won people’s hearts
Residing in India’s every part
He attracted people with his passionate words
As sharp and mind provoking as swords
He asked people to dream
Not the one you do when you sleep
The one which would finalise your future beam
And the one which would keep you awake with a beep
He loved children and students
He asked people to work hard
Even when they are shown a red card
WINGS OF FIRE, TURNING POINTS, INDIA 2020 were some of his books
As they would charm you with their first looks
He wanted youngsters to come up
And help India to make others hiccup
He dreamt of technological India
And wanted it to be tech India
He played a major role in guiding India to success in the field of space
He knew Vikram Sarabhai, Satish Dhawan and other great professors
He always had gratitude towards his teachers
He honored all religions
This great man was always vigilant
Our Salam to the great kalam
Born on 1931
His 83 year journey was brighter than the sun
He stopped his journey in 2015 between students
And mixed up with the heavenly dreams
We were shocked and distressed
We cried and wailed
But knew he wouldn’t come back again
We couldn’t digest the fact that he died
We feel he is still with us – in our hearts
We paid our eternal Salam
To our immortal Kalam
