Other Side(S) Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Other Side(S)

Other side(s)

They
I mean
The two silver fish in the Chinese river
In “Under the Dome”

Have other side
As do the traffic-light-less crossroads
Today
In Toronto

And the Korean owner
Of a wheel aligning garage
Near Keele
And the tire-changing man in “Star”

And the Prime Minister’s speech
On prisoners
“We won’t let them out before…”
And the calls from “University on strike”

They all have
Other side(s)
Good or bad
Right or wrong

“I’ve been in air, from my birth to today”
Said the young man
Of Iranian parents born in Sweden

To him I apologized
I confessed
“I am guilty of it all...”
And I am

I played roles in 1979-Revolution
I recall “gun gathering; and talks”
People, police-less, court-less, and wild
“Some killed”
I am guilty of the decisions I made
Leaving the prey-lambs
To the teeth of “stupid corrupt ruling wolves…” I am guilty.
