Orion Poem by Dallin Bruun

Orion

Rating: 5.0

as I step off my lawn
and head west on the sidewalk
into the cold night
first thing I see is Orion

which reminds me of Vinny
who taught me the summer constellations
with one of those heavy flashlights
that can touch stars
and beat someone senseless

he showed me Scorpio
who Zeus placed opposite of Orion
because they killed each other

the next year at camp
Vinny molested a kid
and spent time in jail

I saw him recently
at a restaurant
he was the manager
and gave us a discount
