Orestes Poem by Charlie F. Kane

Orestes

I’d kill you if there wasn’t
An umbilical cord wedged between us.
Gods dictate what will happen
If I don’t murder you.
The Gods dictate what will happen
If I do.

Everything happens in circles,
A cycle that’ll never stop.
Humans can’t stop the cycle,
But they keep it spinning instead.
It makes no sense,
But, nothing ever does.

I’d kill you if there wasn’t
An umbilical cord wedged between us.
Gods dictate what will happen
If I don’t murder you.
The Gods dictate what will happen
If I do.
