Opting Out Poem by Ernestine Northover

Opting Out

Rating: 4.8

I'm facing you now, I have no more fear
Of you trying to rule my life,
You' ve treated me ill, and now it's quite clear,
I consider, I'm no longer your wife.

You think you own me, I know that for sure,
I assure you, you never will,
You no longer possess the power to lure
Me, with what you call your superior skill.

I hate you now, and I'm not in your debt,
So stand back and just move aside,
I'm leaving right now, without one regret,
But with my head held high with pride.

You've got a really nasty mind,
That you've cruelly used so well,
I'm wishing that someday soon you will find,
That 'purgatory' is where you dwell!

You portray the sense of bitterness with such skill in this poem Ernestine. A very well written piece indeed. Love, Andrew xx
