Only Way Know To Heaven

Early morning before the start
Field calls upon rising swell
Soil needs tampering fingers
Habit forms repetitive motions
Only way known to heaven
Syringe left alone wilts and dies.

Early before the morning start
Hunger wide as coliseum
Frenzy craving human blood
Barter services by any means
Eyes exposed but do not see
Addiction one breath from death

Fallen fruits bruised the ground
Heaven spears shun the scene
When rebelled and cast away
Their ordeal far less than modernity
Skies now turn the other way
Too much toil to track the fallen

Newsflash headlines in bold type
Font larger that the night before
Drum syndrome wish problem away
The loudest, the hollowest TV swanks
Expert parade just for fame’s sake!
Jaded ears num the remote control

Bury our children in unmarked graves
Darkness receive the drained content
Death does not mask our shame. The Light’s
Dartboard six feet under. Missiles
Throw from the Holy Grail, too late for
The blame game! Souls already in the ground

Blind eyes flip though obituaries
Fallen leaves. This poem will die too
Why on earth another morbid alarm?
One more fool born every day
I am the fool who cried wolf again
Poetic caveat! Next fallen could be you!

Poem of the Day

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Young Love lies sleeping
In May-time of the year,
Among the lilies,
Lapped in the tender light:
White lambs come grazing,
White doves come building there:
