Only Shallow Poem by Brandon Lucero

Only Shallow

Walking through the halls
gliding
swiftly carried by clouds

Resting with my lively friends
loneliness dissipates

Radiating all the afterglow of hard-fought confidence

She spoke
quietly

We listened
eagerly

Pins dropped
the room stopped
time slows down

Our eyes dance
shifting attention all around
when beauty surrounds

Every girl prettier than the next
not perfect like you

Color spectrums everywhere
Brown and blonde and auburn hair

Colored eyes
the deepest blues

Hazel
emerald

Yet I love you

If this lasted forever
just wouldn't be long enough

Sacred youth
beautifully tough
