One Year Poem by Kirsten Gray

One Year

i wrote this on the one year anniversary of my grandpa's death

you’ve been gone now for a year
but still your memory we keep near
tears still flow and souls still ache
these feelings for you we can’t shake
we know your presence lingers near
protecting us from all we fear
our hearts they long for you
and we can’t wait till our heaven debut
so once more with you we can walk
and once again we will talk
for I know that we will wait the years
and suffer through the pain and tears
until we meet face to face
and I can once again feel your embrace
