One Set Poem by Robert Brendan

I own fifty
me two hundred
one for every day of the week
and two for Sunday
my best

I have only on two occasions
that my memory gives
nods to
where I have owned more
than one pair of shoes.
Once, when I entered college
for the first time
I had two pairs.
and when I left college
also for the first time
I had two pairs then
now
as I write this
I own only one pair
of shoes
and while some people
might think that this
is why I am not bubbling
with gouts of joy all the
time
they are wrong
