One Saturday In The Diary Poem by Udaya R. Tennakoon

One Saturday In The Diary

The metaphor
Word of line
Put on the date
In a month of year

I said
I love you

Twelve months pages
Middle of a month
On a Saturday page
I wrote it

From that point of
To backward or
To forward
Nothing else written

After a few years
The diary was found
You read the line
I love you

Before the line
I love you
The days and months of blank pages

And after the line
I love you
The days and months of blank pages
How do you realize
And how can I describe

When you read it
I saw your face shading fresh
After all
I was silent
Though I wanted to burn it
I could not

But every Saturday
I am burnt
Because of that page
