One Rainy Night Poem by Harold R Hunt Sr

One Rainy Night

One rainy night
One rainy night there was very little light.
The road was wet with mud
The corners I started to dread.
Rain was falling as hard as could be.
I could not really see.
I had to reduce my speed.
I looked to the left and then to the right.
Just then, in my sight there he stood.
I hit my brakes and tried to stop.
The rain kept me from doing so.
As they drove away, they drove away I heard them say.
He saved her life on this rainy night.
The bridge is washed out and it would have been a sight
On this one rainy night
