One Needs To Give Poem by Shalom Freedman

One Needs To Give

ONE NEEDS TO GIVE

One needs to give
And has nothing much to give anymore
One needs to give
And is too old
One needs to give
And is empty inside
One needs to give
And has nothing to give
One needs to give
And tries to give even though one feels one has nothing to give
One needs to give
And feels one's giving is forced and false
One needs to give
When no one wants one has to give
One needs to give
And gives without believing anyone wants one has to give
One needs to give
And tries to give just to stay alive
One needs to give
And in giving feels one is not really giving at all
One needs to give
And cannot give
And keeps trying to give
And seeks to believe
One is giving
As one tries to give
One needs to give
To feel one's being alive means something
One needs to give
And one tries to give
Without knowing whether or not one is really giving at all.
