One More Try Poem by Clayton Anderson

One More Try

Rating: 5.0

Deep inside the darkened space my mind’s been known to go,
I’ve recently remembered all the love I used to know;
It seems that all that time has done is to solidify this place,
This warm, inviting, summer night where I last beheld your face;
My heart stands strong against the darkened silence in my mind,
Like the solemn tree stands in a field watching life pass by;
All that’s left are pieces of me now that life is through,
Yet hidden inside every one is the memory of you;
With so much space between us it’s hard to tell my mind what’s real,
But without a doubt inside my heart I know it’s you I feel;
Like ghosts that pass me by throughout the night and day,
I swear that I have seen you but as I turn you walk away;
Sometimes I hear your voice or I pause to feel your touch,
It seems the only thing I don’t know is if I follow you this much;
You and I believe in life some very different things,
Whether it is karma, death, or how an angel gets its wings;
But one thing we are certain is that coincidence is fake,
Its life, its fate, or destiny that moves the lives we make;
So when there are so many things leaving us to wonder why,
I surrender and ask our broken hearts to give us one more try.
