One Last Ride /3 Poem by Michelle Guza

One Last Ride /3

We were together and happy on the night
Two of the happiest sisters that never fight
The smiles appeared across our face when we got on the ride
Its just a shame that we have to hide
We climbed onto the ride sitting next to each other
Feeling safe with one another
This is when I wish that the ride will never end
Me with my sister…my best friend
Talking and laughing all the time we were spinning around
I never want to put my feet on the ground
To soon the ride slowed down to ended all our fun
We looked at each other and sighed….its done
Walking over to the way out
Forgetting all the fun is something I highly doubt
We hug one last time before we say goodbye
As soon as our bodies meet we both start to cry
All that is running through my head is “hugs and never lets go”
But knowing that we have to so we both back up slow
Till he took us both in his arms I thought we would both fall to the ground
Just crying and looking at each other with out making a sound
I found it hard to breath just thinking of the long walk ahead
With out my sister on that ride with me makes me feel dead
We just have to remember that one last ride….

There’s a penetrating sadness in this poem that is painful to read, but it’s also beautiful to read the love between two sisters. All best wishes, Seán
