One Gift Poem by Adeline Foster

ONE GIFT

One gift, of all the gifts you gave,
Lives through eternity,
One gift I value more than all
The gifts you gave to me.
One gift was more than I could ask
If I had asked the moon,
One gift, unseen, and yet so vast
It filled up every room.
One gift I value more than all
The baubles I could own,
One gift that made the difference of
A dwelling or a home,
One gift lives on though you are gone
And soothes each memory.
No other gift could equal this:
That you believed in me.

I didn't know of you, I don't think I would have ever read anything you had written but for the fact that you took the time to read some of my poems and in doings so offer me a helping hand. Not only am I grateful to you for the help you offered so freely but also for the fact that I can now read such lovely poems. This one brings tears to my eyes, in this poem you give my feelings a voice. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful work, also for your help and guidance. Steve.
