One

One by one the steps unfolded
Like pennies from heaven.

Like turning the tuning knob of a radio
Until you hit just the right frequency.

The infinite template opened up
A symmetry beyond all human understanding.

With no step ever repeating its previous path
The hidden structure never seen.

Without a guiding hand until the end of time
A sight that would haunt any man.

Symmetry and asymmetry as one.
