Once upon a time
I lived within a dream
Everything was bright
But nothing's as it seemed

The veil has been lifted
My eyes are not naive
Not any more at least
And maybe I should leave

The darkness of the world
Gets blacker every day
I yearn for a spot of light
That doesn't fade away.

The war and violence
The blood and sweat and tears
The self hatred and self pity
Just confirm my deepest fears

But I guess I'll stick around
And maybe wait it out
Because I still have some hope
Though my heart is weighed with doubt.
