On The Wisdom Of Giving Poem by Thomas Golding

On The Wisdom Of Giving

Rating: 4.3

A word of wisdom you requested
Though inspires by a few drinks
It deserved an honest answer
A bar was no place to reply
To the feeling of hurt inside
Though the friends present
May have understood
By the attention shown
They were certainly all ears.

You feel perhaps I should know more
Having reached the age
When women relate their troubles
Rather than anticipate
They may be caused any
A state of affairs about which
I can ponder now there is time
To meditate on past mistakes
And that which remained
After endless discussions
Over foolish absolutes
Past aches and possibilities.

No matter your gender
Those times when everything bursts
Remember the futility of hindsight
To be lovable is to love
You truly are unique
And may not own another or be owned
Happiness is not giving or taking
But living and sharing
When you chose to walk away
You claimed yourself
What a pity I’m not younger.

I highly recommend this piece because it is born of a good philosophy. Well expressed. GW62
