If you travel on the backroad
in your journey through this life,
'twill free you from the heavy load
that emburdens us with strife.
The backroad path may slow your pace,
while others move on ahead;
But life should never be a race,
place your ego back in bed.
This road won't lead to fortune's fame,
enhance holdings in your purse;
It may shed honor on your name,
free you from life's greedy curse.
The roses seem will smell as sweet
as you travel, day by day;
Just help someone that you may meet,
who got lost along the way.
The road you choose sets how you live.
Truth should never be denied.
Just choose a path where you may give
and you will be satisfied.
There is much truth in what you say Joe. Well written. You've made a spelling error in the next to last verse by the way.
Such simple beauty and truth of wisdom in these poetic verses. I wish you were my next door neighbor Joe, a fella could learn a lot from a sage like you.
Another great read. Wise words in this lovely poem. We should be taking life at a slower pace, and understand how more gratifying it can be to give to someone rather than receive. Good rhythm and rhyme, well done.
I really enjoyed this write Joe. Traveling the back roads are sometimes the most enjoyable.You get to see the rural areas and also speak to travelers along the way. The most important thing is that we not look at life as being in the fast lane but that no matter how and when we get as long as we get there. Very good write.
A great motivating poem on reflecting. Superb rhymin too. Nice to read u again.
The poem made me think for a while about Mother Theresa. The wisdom expressed here is perhaps the most important message our world should hear. No need to get ahead of others, just walk the back road and help the people who are stuck there. True happiness, peace of mind and satisfaction can only be find in this philosophy. The race on the main road, no matter how far in front we are, will never yield such valuable treasures to us. I truly enjoyed the poem and I love your style of perfect rhymes. Excellent!
A wise and very philosophical poem Joseph, well put together and a great read.

When we cannot keep pace with the rest of the world, it is better we opt to run through the back road. Though our pace may be slower, we feel happy to see that we are moving ahead and not standing still. On the way if we can help someone rise to his feet, our journey forward is made more rewarding! As usual, a great write, Sir!
