On Howard's Ten Point Plan (1997) Poem by Francis Duggan

On Howard's Ten Point Plan (1997)

Prime minister Howard wants to extinguish Native Title
And off of the Aboriginals take their Land
And sell Australia to foreign investors
One of the many back door deals he's planned.

Miles of Aboriginal lands will be sold to foreign exploiters
And private property signs and fences all around
The land won't be used for agricultural purpose
But for the wealth that lay beneath the ground.

Many Australian whites feel Howard is doing the right thing
And that extinguishment of Native Title their lives won't effect
But they are wrong the World around is watching
And white Australia will lose all respect.

Australia would be seen as a pariah
That is of course if John Howard has his way
Trade bans in place and rise in unemployment
For wrongdoing there would be a price to pay.

I've heard John Howard use the word Un-Australian
And that he himself an Aussie only partly true
I think John your ancestors came from Britain
And the real Aussie is darker man than you.

The Aboriginal people have lived in Australia
For sixty thousand years or maybe more
Two centuries back Captain Cook and his sailors
The first whites to walk on Australian shore.

Two centuries the combined lives of three people
And Mr John Howard has the cheek to say
We'll take what land they have left from the Aboriginals
This land is really our land anyway.

And if the Coalition Government push their bill through Parliament
Australia as a whole won't stand to gain
The Aboriginal people will be seen as victims
And the guilt as such forever will remain.

The coalition government have this great plan for Australia
And John Howard has come up with his ten point plan
We'll take the free land off of the rightful owners
And give it to a foreign race of man.
