On Content. Poem by Henry Baker

On Content.

Give me, O God! (for all Things come from Thee)
Content, that richest Cordial of the Soul:
Possessing This, I happier shall be,
In my neglected low Degree,
Than He who does in Heaps of Riches roll.
Chymists, long in vain, have sought
The Philosophick--Stone to find,
What Labour had been spar'd! if They had thought
To look for't where it is, in a contented Mind.
