On Beaten Track Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

On Beaten Track

On beaten track

Many a time winter;
Has changed to spring
Ruined and ill, life of winter
Leaves him not from its ring
He perches in a dingy place
Inert coupled with dim dull dirt
Roofless up and down he stares and says
Night brings him stars-filled space
He adores it his dream place
Searching warmth in winter
Having no shelter to counter
Dreaming mouthful of rice
For three though two to offer
Seen everyday singing Lord’s Prayer
To give him daily bread
He prays without misgiving
To his heavenly father
And I wonder, to give sustenance
Do children beseech their earthly father?
If an omnipotent creator
Is not prepared to provide him
With the necessities of life
He would have done better
Not to create him ever…………..

A very beautiful poem. The way you have portrayed, I could picturise right in front of my eyes. Loved reading it. Actually, I wrote comment thinking for this, but I think wrote on your other poem...
