Old Lover Poem by tristan loveday

Old Lover

Rating: 5.0

When I first laid my eyes on you,
the sun showed its power,
nature showing its beauty,
warning us how it can change
a human into a beautiful creature,
sitting there doing nothing
but waiting for something,
little did we know that God had
plan for both of us.

You glowing became a memory,
your voice became an old song,
your face became a lost picture
and your eyes were the stars in the daylight,
you rip my soul and like a thief you run
with only half and to fit it in with you,
you lend me half of yours

The sun hits me with anger as
I look for shelter, there's only
dry, thirsty sand, it's so hot but I'm so cold,
my dear won't you hold me in your arms?

As I return back to my dark room with a frown,
I see everything in their places with their shadows
overlapping each other to stay warm, they watch me as
I grow old and have faith in you like the window
that brings the light into our faces,
as I still believe that you will knock on the door,
I will run barefoot, straight to your arms and I put my head
on your heart as it's the place where it belongs,
oh darling, won't you stay for longer?
Just don't become an old lover
