Old Lady Poem by Jan Sand

Old Lady

There was an old lady
Who lived in a boot.
She kept a green lizard
That had a green snoot.
He ran up the walls
And flicked his long tail
And swallowed mosquitoes
Caught without fail.
She kept a brown chicken
Who made her some eggs
Which she painted with eyes
And hung up on pegs.
The eyes, she was sure,
Kept bad luck away.
And maybe she's right.
They're alive to this day.
