Old Friend Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

Old Friend

Rating: 5.0

Wherever you are, for you I will be standing
Even when everyone is making fun
Your immensity is all that I perceive
Upon the heights of heaven and the vast sea
When you cease to breathe and collapse, It will be misery for me
If sadness is overpowering, I'll revitalize you with fresh air
I will move the stones away from your path
Budge the mountains for the sake of your happiness
Loads I will carry, years and years it may take
But let me confess, now that I have become feeble
An old person, Too frail to support you
I need a successful person with glorious plumes in hat
Mist and fog of triumphs may have made you blind
You no longer see, a well wisher behind
