Old-Fashioned Love Poem by Jennie Scheihing

Old-Fashioned Love

Rating: 3.0

I want a boy
Who will love me
Like the old love bird
That only sings
To that one bird
The one that hears
Through all the noise
To find exactly
What he is trying to say
Who will love me
Like Landon loves Jamie
With a passion
That death
Nor parents
Nor friends
Will never be able to break
Who will love me
Without ceasing
Who will sing me love songs
And play along on guitar
Who will go to my window
In the middle of the night
With a radio on his shoulder
Who will call me
Just to hear my voice
Before going to sleep
Who will write me letters
Simply saying, “I love you”
But it will mean the world to me
Who will hug me when I cry
And kiss me when I’m down
And will do both when I’m happy
Who will tell me I’m beautiful
Whenever I think I am not
Who will introduce me to people
As the greatest thing
In the whole world
Who won’t get mad
If I don’t call
Who won’t always tell me
Where we’re going for dinner
Just to see me surprised
Who will tell me he loves me
Constantly
And mean it more every time
This may all seem so cliche
But I can't help it
I want love the old-fashioned way

I couldn't agree with you more! All these things seem so lost to this world, yet there's some of us who still desperately cling to hopes that maybe a fairy tale will exist for us. Very nice, simple poem.
