Oh Mistress Mine Poem by gershon hepner

Oh Mistress Mine

Rating: 5.0

Like daytime that appears less lively
than the night which is more brightly colored,
according to Van Gogh, a girl who's wifely,
appearing unattractive to a dullard,
will often show her glory and start glowing
at nighttime, when all women can
turn into mistress-mine-where-are-you going?
and with their dark side satisfy their man.

Inspired by a saying by Van Gogh that was inscribed on the entrance of the MoMa exhibition of Van Gogh’s nightime paintings: 'It often seems to me that night is more alive and really colored than the day.'
