Off The Lighten Path Poem by Darren Tyler Howard

Off The Lighten Path

There's a fondness I've forgotten...
But friendly nature still persists
Trying to burn a dying Flame
of something I hope exists

Vibrant colors surround me
they carry me places I've never seen
Oh the roads and waves and faces-
My heart forever changed it's beating
But is life just a dream?

Forcing hope to life always
in this dreary, fading world
Losing track if hope is real
Because I see what has gone away

The lights illuminated paths disguised
Filled with masks of painted faces
But I can never reach these places...
Pale and Uninterested- I'll see my demise...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My eyes have been opened to the beauty life has to offer, unfortunately the world around us diminishes that beauty. This poem is a reflection of the personal struggle that comes with seeing so much in this vibrant, beautiful life, while everyone and everything else is working as antagonists.
