Of Men And Mice Poem by Diana van den Berg

Of Men And Mice

There has always been
something
that has whispered to her
in the history
and geography
and mathematics
and biology
and languages, body and spoken,
and poetry
and social graces
of things
about the sunlight
and shadow
that dance
and meld
into the smile
that is wisdom
to know
amongst a million other secrets
that it is the little things
that tell
who is a man
and who is
a predatory mouse.
