Of Lovers Poem by Garnet Robbie

Of Lovers

At the Threshold of Love
The Lover must remove his sandals:
Within, the holy Chamber,
Washed in Lover's tears,
All coverings, swept away

At the Threshold of Love,
The Lover must lay down His life:
One more patient moment,
One more hint of separation,
Impossible to bear.

At the Threshold of Love,
The Lover must bear a treasure:
A single grain of sand
That tells the ancient tale
Of Majnun's Love for Layla,

At the Threshold of Love,
The Lover's eyes must be blind
Filled with tears of blood
Flowing by the knowledge
Of crimes against the Beloved.

At the Threshold of Love,
The Lover must take one step
Into the sweetest madness
The Beloved's veils are lifted
The Reunion begins
