Ode To The Woman Who Would Bear My Child Poem by Wakefield Mahon

Ode To The Woman Who Would Bear My Child

O fairest Mother that would bear my child
O fragrant blossom of petals so sweet
What joy you bring, gentle woman so mild
At last, now blessed, our love is complete

O what honor you give me
O that I such could return

O blessed womb that keeps her warm
O precious bosom on which she will feed
Her eyes, much like yours, with passion will storm
Her heart, much like mine, your loving will need

O what honor you give me
O that I such could return

Surely, the Lord smiles kindly upon us
Surely, His mercy is ever-present

I ever pledge my love to you always
My love will return to you time and again
O blessed wife that gives light to my days
I count myself lucky to call you friend

O what honor you give me
O that I such could return

O kindest spirit that gives me love
I bless the union that made us two one
The eyes of Heaven look down from above
And see that, in truth, we've only begun

O what honor you give me
O that I such could return

Surely, the Lord smiles kindly upon us
Surely, His mercy is ever-present
