Ode To Galveston Poem by Matt Matherne

Ode To Galveston

Galveston, oh Galveston, I can feel the winds of Ike a blowin'
I can see his dark clouds grown'
I was 21 when Ike hit Galveston

Galveston, oh Galveston, I still hear your sea waves crashing
While I watch the lightning flashing
I cling to my house and dream of Galveston

I still see me standing by the water
Standing there lookin' out to sea
And is Ike headed for me?
On the beach where I used to run where I lived in Galveston.

Galveston, oh Galveston, I am so afraid of dying
As I dry the tears I'm crying
As I watch your sea birds flying in the sun
At Galveston, at Galveston
