Ode To Frienemy Poem by Sheikh Ahmed Tijan Bah

Ode To Frienemy

Rating: 5.0

We've being through a lot together,
From hot to stormy weather.
We agreed you were my brother,
From another mother.

You said you were a friend to me.
But seemed more like a "frienemy".
You were like Satan's mini-me,
But the Creator was protecting me.

I've always stayed true to you,
And I asked the same from you.
I've always trusted you,
And this is even after I was betrayed by you.

We started fighting over everything,
For things that were mostly nothing.
We were no more a thing,
For you thought you had something.

You said I was holding you back,
When I carried you on a stack.
You were mad at me for eaten your snack,
When you saw on my teeth some plaque.

I kept saying I was sorry,
then you ate my calamari.
I stormed off in a fury,
then in the gutters our friendship was buried.

We never thought it would be food,
that will make us conclude.
we did however say it was all good,
That is, what I understood.

You then said it out loud,
In the midst of a crowd.
You wanted me in a shroud,
In a grave; 6 feet underground.

I then prayed to the lord for a new friend,
These people reading this poem are the ones He recommends.
I asked him to preserve them, let them never bend,
These people are not like you, they are indeed true friends.
