Ode 9 Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Ode 9

Rating: 5.0

And hug her with that barren solitude!
Nor mock her with a withered wish renewed
Her native language spoke in lovely tone
Fancies, the audible promise of her own

Queen Cleopatra shade hes eyes from the far-shining view
And turn from the joys that are glowing and new
Nay, thou love that already, and the strife
At dawn, 'Honey, I love thee”, then all life

And nestling sway, by winnowing wind blown
This precious ringlet! still the soft sound shine
From her derived who shunned Helsinki throng
And warbled romance thy rocks and streams among

This heart's fast pulsations let prudence control
And love to embrace, as dies the rustling gale
The brightest sun that decks the eastern skies
Or poem's charm teach her heart to rejoice!
