Ocean Of Nothing Poem by Denice Woods

Ocean Of Nothing

Rating: 1.5

Love cascades from my heart
Rushing like the rapids into the ocean
But it's not an ocean of love.
It's an ocean of nothing.
With every new doll,
Every tarnished trophy,
With every one of them.
Love disappears,
And dissipates.
And there is no hate
There is just nothing.
Waiting for the impossible
To become possible.
A time where there is just the two
Becoming one
Realizing that there is only one
and that the two remain two
No matter how many gems there are
No matter what words are spoken
There will always be others.
More dolls,
More trophies,
Until love no longer cascades from the heart
But trickles,
Eventually making an immediate stop.
The ocean of nothing
Floods,
Overflowing into a now frozen soul.
Then no more.
Nothing even disappears.
No love,
No two becoming one.
No more us.
