Ocean Poem by Nicholas Peter

Ocean

I washed up on the coast,
and vomited out the seawater,
and pulled seaweed out of my hair.

The ocean seemed so enticing,
from my point of view,
all the way up there.

I wanted to fly,
have mom and dad be proud,
their boy, a real Icarus!
maybe they'd pay attention.

I hit the ocean,
and felt the grip of Poseidon,
as I relished in the cool water,
waiting for my abyssal relief.

But thoughts bum-rushed me,
and I grew scared,
and hurried quick,
burst out of the water like a lotus flower.

I washed on the beach,
by the coast,
still in my pain,
that was now accompanied by dull physical one.

My world,
was still nothing but a swirl,
of blackness,
a Mariana Trench hole,
where everything should've remained.

I got up from the beach,
and started to walk away,
and I felt my hair blow in the wind.

Maybe it's not so bad,
maybe I'm just young and ignorant,
a still blooming lotus,
who hasn't risen from the mud pit,
of the world.
