Obstacle Race Poem by anujan raja

Obstacle Race

Rating: 2.5

- - Obstacle Race
The coconut broke in a hundred bits
The droplets flew out
Felt on my face
Like a thousand gentle pats.
I got what I prayed for
The power of benediction.

The Himalayas shrank
Before my eyes,
The hillock I climbed with ease.
The great Sahara
Wasted away into a little arid tract
I ambled across.

The great elephant head,
The golden urn held
In the twist of its trunk,
And the single tusk
O The mighty remover
Of all obstacles in my path

I fall on the granite floor
The cool touch on my forehead,
Hurdles, big and small loom
Some of them fall,
The others- I fly over them
And finish the race, the winner.

Note; Hindus in India believe that God Ganesha is the Remover and Destroyer of all hurdles and obstacles. To the believer He is a God with the head of an elephant. He is Vighneswara. Break a coconut in His presence and all the obstacles in your path shatter like the coconut you break. That is why thousands upon thousands of coconuts are broken every day as offering to Him.Go to Pazhavangadi Temple in Thiruvananthapuram City to see this live. You will stand there and gape in amazement at the hectic performance.

Such a comparison! Our faith in His Might and how the difficulties tear away from our path. The others- I fly over them And finish the race, the winner. It is true. it is our faith in Him that gives us faith in ourselves to accomplish anything we want. I like these lines the best
