Obsidian Throne Poem by Eric Paeplow

Obsidian Throne

As day and night, together shall meet
Upon the dusk, the day complete
I sat and pondered, weak and weary
Upon the dead, upon the dreary
As fading light, gave way to night
And obscured the world before my eyes
Was it still the same, or has it changed
Or has the night, merely reclaimed
Its rightful place upon the stage
Where dreams take hold, as they engage
The sleeping minds of those who rest
With dreams of joy, or dreams of death
To softly slumber, neath the seven shades
Of the darkened skies, before my gaze
And as I rest alone, here in the dark
As dreams take hold, and I embark
To other worlds, where I may roam
And reign upon, my obsidian throne
Of darkened lands, of darkened skies
Of all that lies, before my eyes
Until the sun begins to peek
And softly wakes me, from my sleep
Where colors shine before my eyes
As the rays of light remove the guise
Of darkened skies and hanging clouds
And all the sights, that night enshrouds
Of other worlds, where I may roam
To reign upon, my obsidian throne
