Obama Poem by Akeem Mair

Obama

Still alive to witness the first black president
in a segregated office
That's a salute to Barack Obama
Broke Barriers that were flawless
Towards a few, So many ancestors died
to erase hated from our lives
Wished Martin Luther King survived
his fate of bullets that took his life
America's black number 44
if only Martin saw a glimpse of this
His dreams breaking discrimination,
all turned real like he preached it
'I have a dream one day my four children
will not be judge by color'
All it takes is one brother who has the heart
to make changes for others
Rocked a whole nation, Obama
made us all believe in 'yes we can'
Except the media who crucified him
like Jesus for being a black man
Even blacks on blacks off the mic
but we still caught Jesse Jackson
But red white and blue
ain't about the division of ethnicities
you showed us that
when you changed the hearts of our enemies
Half black and half white you truly
represent America's unity
From slavery to the White House
look how far we came from history
I'm in debt to the ones whipped severely
so I can vote freely
And for those who couldn't afford the doctor
you made health care for everybody
You aimed to make it fair
so we all can be treated like millionaires
I too dream big and plan to change history
the way you did
As kid I wonder if you knew you would be...
America's first black president

Obama

We must bow our heads to all those martyrs who wrote this saga with their blood, struggled and suffered in order to bring about this transformation. Thanks. I would like to quote: ......From slavery to the White House / look how far we came from history ......I too dream big and plan to change history / the way you did.....
