O.T (Once Told) Poem by Kelvin Owusu

O.T (Once Told)

Rating: 5.0

I was told that life was greatest gift of all
But to save or give life is rare to even envision
As more lives are taken then they're given

I was told that freedom was not
A gift but a given right and yet
The majority are in slavery and
Just so they don't rise and revolt
Their spirits are broken
Until all that remains is a shell of
A man or woman: Obedient

I was told that the government
Are meant to govern the people
Be servants to the people yet
They feed the ones they govern
With lies and deceit
Whiles trying to be extremely discrete

I was told that the world is beautiful
Yet it's plagued by the trauma of war
Fuelled by the Fear that dwells within
The living organisms also known as human beings

All that I was told, I experience most
Beforehand, making my beliefs and
Understanding a little bold, what
Plagues the world is the human psyche
Running cheaply like the
Metro station and their myki
Being victimised by our own fears
Allowing it to take action while
Playing the fool to our vanity

The world that we live in is beautiful
It's just unseen because we
Corrupted it with our stupidity
The Devil or God have no play in this
Neither does religion, yet we use it
To justify own wrong doings
Even I have been wicked
I am the reason for my own wrong doings
I don't work for forgiveness
I'm only working for change
